And if Our Love Journey Should End

Let us begin at the ending

I will not wait for you, but I will pray for your journey to continue without me

A gelatinous form it must take, for there is no certainty in the journey of the soul

Only on our deathbeds will we ever truly know what this time together meant

When our souls intertwined so fierce that for God’s sake, we parted ways until the next lifetime

I look forward toward the horizon and I pause. Is it for good this time? Will you run after me?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, you said in your business dealings, but did you mean us too?

We plunged the depths of our emotions, creating a great vortex that is our love where others wither in the shallows

We swam up to view the stars at night and promised to cherish the ritual

Do you still look up and think of me as you drown in a wave of emotions of your own making?

Our stroll along the still waters of the lake are a distant memory now

When you told me to wade in the waters and it easily consumed me as I met the unseen cliff

“Sometimes I get lost in my emotions. Do you see how far my love for you goes? Does it scare you?” you said.
