I have to respectfully disagree with how this article characterizes the spiritual community. First of all, calling it "new age" is an outdated term in my opinion. Perhaps it was new age when your mother was in practice, but the simple use of the term lets me know that you're neither a part of it, nor have you done any deep research of your own. I'm in the spiritual community and I don't know anyone who gets seduced by the alt-right movement. I'm sure there are some who do, but that is their free will. Folks have to be accountable for their own spiritual journey, so I think the last part of your article makes sense. I understand that you may still suffer from mother wounds, and that is a serious matter, but you have unwittingly taken on some of her cynicism by putting down people who have spiritual belief systems. A focus on how certain beliefs are attracting those who are curious about their spirituality would be more helpful and objective from someone like you who doesn’t appear to have any beliefs. I could respect that and let it wash over me, but this article seems angry and seems to belittle people who want to grow and evolve.
