What I Learned About Myself as an AirBnB Host

Hosting is a great way to meet new people, especially since I work from home. Every week I welcome AirBnB guests to stay in one of the rooms in my home. The guests’ reasons for staying with me range from overnight stays on the way to another destination; city dwellers looking for a place to stay in nature; or traveling nurses and technicians needing affordable housing during their contract jobs. I go with the flow of my guests’ energy. No matter what brings my guests to me, our meeting always seems divinely orchestrated.

Some guests have dubbed my home the “Healing House” in my reviews — a respite from their daily anxieties in the city, from the pressures of wearing a mask, or from whatever stressful situations they endure. We’ve cried together and had epiphanies during conversations that were entirely organic.

Some guests come for healing and these people, without my prompting, find out that I’m a psychic medium. I’ve had guests who have lost very close relatives in some of the most tragic ways. I’ve had guests who are going through transitions in their professional and/or personal life, been through breakups, and I’ve had guests who are simply coming to get away from the city to study for an exam.

I never pressure them to socialize with me. I never push my guests to tell me their life stories. It’s almost always…
