Your Triggers Pinpoint Where You Still Need Healing

No matter how successful we are or how evolved we become on our spiritual journey, we can still get triggered. Sometimes it’s a simple comment someone makes that the person had zero intent to hurt you, but the comment reminded you of another situation from your past.

The exception is when someone is being overly critical, overtly rude or trying to push your buttons. Even then, as a spiritual being looking to evolve, you’ll eventually come to a point in your life when you realize that the things people do to you is more about where they are in their own struggle than it is about you. So you learn to pick and choose your battles and set firmer boundaries.

A person who is still healing in one or more areas of their life will catch themselves and realize this and take a step back before responding to ensure that they’re not responding in the moment. If the situation is happening in real time, it’s perfectly fine to say, “Let me think about that and get back to you,” or simply ask the other person, “Are you okay?”

This gives you time and space to think about whether the criticism or comment is valid, or in the latter scenario, creates space for the other person to pause and reflect on their own emotional state.
